Fun and fast
Individual double wishbone suspension allows the bike to travel safely and comfortably at 25 km/h on uneven surfaces, even with sensitive cargo or passengers. Cobblestones, tram tracks, small kerbs, pot holes -you can go full speed on most uneven surfaces (up to a certain limit of course). The suspension is adjustable, but as long as you stay within recommended loads you can use the same setting unloaded and fully loaded.
The small width makes it safer to maintain speed when meeting other cyclists on two way cycle paths.
The Armadillo has high cornering stability thanks to its four wheels and relatively low center of gravity, so speed can be maintained in corners. ￼
Maximum leg muscle output is possible thanks to the support of the backrest. Compare with the power you get in the leg press at the gym! ￼
The drivetrain offers low gears and high torque output from both legs and motor to the drive wheels. This means that the Armadillo with ease works its way up steep hills, even heavily loaded. And on the flat you will easily cruise at 25 km/h.
The turning circle is surprisingly small, making it easy to make u-turns even on narrow streets, and to pass construction sites. And shouldn’t it be enough, it is easy to just put your feet down (yes, Flintstone style) in the ground to reverse. For really tight spaces, and for parking, you can easily lift the Armadillo in its bumper to move it around.
Comfortable and ergonomic
The rider sits in a comfortable quickadjust seat, in a position that does not give bottom, back, neck or hand pains or numbness, even if riding for long periods. The seat in combination with the advanced suspension makes for one of the most comfortable cycling experiences on the market. The first response from a majority of test riders is “It is so comfortable!”. The suspension also protects the vehicle from damage when ridden on bad roads.
The seat is high enough to easily sit down and get up from and the front boom is low for ease of entry.
Convenient cargo height, easy access to all cargo without hurting your back.
The high stability more or less eliminates the risk of falling over, which is by far the most common cause for serious injury for cyclists.
The rider has high control over the bike in all situations. It stops efficiently even on very difficult situations such as breaking hard on uneven surface while cornering, thanks to the suspension and stability.
The rider sits at the same height as cars and has rear view mirrors, so traffic overview and visibility is comparable to cars.
The small width (86 cm) makes it safe on double direction bike paths and is easier to overtake. The Armadillo is low enough not to obstruct traffic overview for other cyclists.
The speed capability is also increasing safety. As it easily keeps up with most other cyclists, the need to do risky overtakings decrease.
As the Armadillo has the capability to replace many car and van trips, the risk of being hit by a heavy vehicle is reduced.
