Velove was founded to take climate action in the transport sector. We believe our solution is radically more energy and resource efficient than the status quo solution for moving stuff around in cities -the van. So in short, by beating vans we are taking climate action. Below we explain how our mission contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and targets -it is more than climate action!
Our Velove Armadillo e-cargobike only uses a fifteenth of the energy when driving compared to a small e-van (target 7.3)!
Our Armadillo e-cargobike only uses a tenth of the resources when produced, compared to an e-van (target 8.4).
Our Armadillo e-cargobike only emits a fifteenth of the CO2 emissions from driving, compared to an e-van (goal 13).
Cities also become much nicer when motor traffic is reduced. Less barrier effects for pedestrians and cyclists, less noise, less particles and less risk of serious injury (goal 11, target 11.6, 3.6 and 3.9). It is also nice to see the face of a bike rider instead of the glass and steel of a van!
Being a company doing 100 % bike based transport, showing that we can operate in any weather, all year around, we are indirectly promoting biking and better bike infrastructure. Biking is an inclusive, affordable and sustainable mode of transport (target 11.2 and 11.3)
We are actively communicating the life-cycle based emissions of different transport modes, particularly focussing on the general misconceptions of "zero emission" and "fossil free" delivery (target 12.8).
We offer an active, outdoors job for riders. Physical exercise have proven positive effects for both physical and mental wellness and this job is a great complement to studies or desk based jobs (goal 3).
Many of our riders are young, and we provide job opportunities and possibilities for increased responsibilites for them (target 8.6).
We provide adequate training, proactive safety measures and insurances (target 8.8). We offer contracts with different levels of flexibility, always with fair pay. At work, we strive for an co-operative atmosphere and that everything just works.
To compete with van based delivery, we innovate both in hardware, software and processes (goal 9).
We are maximising utilisation of our resources -leading to even low resource and energy production, more benefits for cities and more work offered.
By always improving our processes, we offer an attractive service at low cost, which makes the switch away from van based delivery easier.
